In my ongoing project ‘Hands’, I explore the importance of human connection. I was inspired to start this project by several things, one of them being the world we live in.
Over the past few years, with the development of technology and the experience of distance that we have all been through, I have noticed how people are drifting away from one another. Closeness begins to feel rare, almost like a luxury.
True human connection feels like it is becoming rarer. We live in a world of constant contact, messages, images, notifications, and yet we remain less and less present with one another. I believe that today we have an especially strong need for closeness. For touch. For the quiet presence of “I am here.” For me, hands become a symbol of this. Of connection. Of humanity.
